Alex Prophet - Technical Director and U11 Coach
As Southern Highlands Technical Director of Football, Alex Prophet brings extensive coaching and player development experience, with a strong back ground across both Australian and international football environments. Having coached with Western Sydney Wanderers and Camden Tigers NPL, Alex has also held key coaching roles at Sydney United, and Wollongong Wolves, working across U18, U20 and First Grade levels in the National Premier Leagues. His technical knowledge and tactical insight have been honed through years of involvement at elite levels of the game Internationally, Alex has worked within renowned academy systems including Blackpool, Wigan Athletic, Reading and Liverpool Football Academies, gaining valuable experience in player development pathways and professional coaching methodologies. Holding both FFA and UEFA B Licenses, Alex combines formal qualifications with a hands-on approach to nurturing talent, implementing structured development programs that emphasize technical excellence, creativity, and player confidence. Driven by a passion for building strong, player· cantered environments, Alex's philosophy focuses on long-term development ensuring each athlete grows both on and off the pitch through professionalism, resilience, and love for the game.
David Maggs - Club President and U8-U9 Coach
As the President of Southern Highlands Football Club and coach of the U8-U9 squads, David brings more than 30 years experience in youth development, guiding young people to build resilience, teamwork and leadership through sport and outdoor education. Originally from the UK, his background includes mentoring as an Air Cadet and Duke of Edinburgh Awards instructor, as well as coaching youth football across various levels. A former semi-professional footballer, David's lifelong passion for the game shapes his coaching philosophy, which centres on player development, sportsmanship, and instilling a genuine love for football from an early age.
As club president David leads with a strong commitment to community, inclusion, and growth. His vision for SHFC is to nurture a supportive and inspiring environment where every player, regardless of age or ability feels valued, encouraged, and proud to be a part of the club.
Lisa Prophet - U8-U9 Coach
Lisa Brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to Southern Highlands Fe, with a strong background across both grassroots and elite football. A former NPLl player with Blacktown Spartans, Lisa also represented Nepean FC and Camden Tigers, developing her technical understanding of the game from a young age.
Currently holding a AFA B Licence and working towards her A licence, Lisa also holds experience as the Technical Director for Camden Tigers NPL2 Youth Girls, where she supported player development and coach education across the club. Her football journey began at Hills Sports High, where she was coached by former Matilda's Coach Alan Stajcic, sparking her lifelong passion for coaching and mentoring young players. Lisa has been coaching for over 8 years, including 5 years at Oxley, and continues to bring enthusiasm, professionalism, and care to her teams.
In addition to her local achievements, Lisa represented the AFA Australian Football Team on tours of the UK and Spain, further enriching her understanding of high-level competition and player development. Lisa's coaching philosophy centres on developing confident, technically skilled, and creative players in a fun, supportive, and growth orientated environment.
John Gymellas - U10 Coach
John brings over 15 years of senior playing and coaching experience to Southern Highlands FC. His coaching background spans multiple levels of the game, including roles as U18s and U20s Coach in NPL 2 and 3, First Grade Coach in ESFA and HFA, and assistant Coach in First Grade NPL 3 teams.
A strong communicator and tactically minded leader, John's
experience as both player and coach allows him to connect wit17 his players and help them reach their potential- balancing technical precision with a deep understanding of team culture.
His senior playing career includes over a decade competing at
Super League, NPL 2, and NPL 3 levels, where he developed a deep passion for the game and a commitment to nurturing the next generation of players.
Dan Fernandez - U10 Coach
As the Under 10s Coach at Southern Highlands Football Club, Dan bringing strong local knowledge and a genuine passion for developing young players. With multiple years of coaching experience in local grassroots competitions, Dan focuses on creating a fun, engaging, and challenging environment where children can build confidence, teamwork, and technical skill.
As a local First Grade player, Dan leads by example on and off the field-instilling dedication, respect, and a love for the game in every session. He is currently completing his C-Class Coaching Licence, continuing his professional development to deliver high-quality training to the next generation of players.
Jess Fernandez - Club Secretary
As the secretary of Southern Highlands Football Club, Jess bringing strong organisation, community spirit, and a deep passion for youth sport to the role. Jess plays a key part in building a supportive and professional environment for players, families and coaches.
With a background in early childhood education, Jess combines a love of structure and people-first leadership to help shape the club's vision of providing high quality, inclusive football opportunities for young players.
Jess focuses on communication, collaboration and family engagement to ensure that SHFC continues to thrive as a community driven club that values respect, growth, and connection- both on and off the field!
Craig Davies - Assistant U12 Coach and Fields Manager
Craig brings valuable experience and strong organisational skills to the U12 coaching team. Having coached across grassroots MiniRoos and the Foundations of Football, he has passion for developing young players and helping them build confidence, skills, and a love for the game.
A long-time player himself, Craig progressed through club and representative football in the Illawarra region, going on to feature in youth and first-grade competitions in the Illawarra Premier League. He also gained additional experience in futsal and rugby union, giving him a broad sporting background that enhances his coaching perspective.
Off the field, Craig plays an essential role in the club’s operations, managing bookings, field hire, and competition schedules with precision and reliability. His commitment to structure and communication ensures everything runs smoothly for players, families, and coaches alike.
Craig’s approachable nature and passion for football make him a valued part of the club and a positive influence on every team he supports.
